How close Is AF5 Preview to a Release Candidate?

Hello again,

First off, I’d like to say that I’m really enjoying the improvements and changes introduced in the recently released AF5 preview - excellent work! I’m genuinely excited about the direction the framework is taking and can’t wait to use it in production.

This brings me to my question:
According to the original roadmap, a release candidate was expected to follow shortly after the preview release. Could you share how close the current Axon Framework 5 Preview is to reaching release candidate status, or provide a rough estimate for when we might expect the RC or even the full release?

At our company, we’re currently developing a greenfield application and would very much prefer to start directly with AF5. We’ve already gained some hands-on experience with both the MS3 and the Preview versions, and the differences between them were quite substantial. That’s why I’d like to understand whether it makes sense to start with the Preview now or wait a little longer for the RC.

Once again, great work on the new version - the progress so far looks fantastic!

Best regards,
Chris M

Hey Chris! I just want to start off by letting you know that I am in no way affiliated with AxonIQ. But I am currently working with AF5 in a greenfield project, much like you. There is a page on github available under AxonFramework/Release 5.0.0, where you can track the progress of the full release. Its almost at 70% completeness, and its moving fast, it was around 50% at the start of this week. So if they keep this pace, I would assume that you can expect a full release candidate before october ends. Probably sometime in the next two weeks. Heres the link if you want to keep an eye on it aswell: Release 5.0.0
